In the business world, there are CEOs, CFOs and CMOs.
And now, DoubleTree by Hilton is adding the title CCO to that roster. As in...Chief Cookie Officer.
Yes, you read that right. Not Chief Communications Officer, but rather, Chief Cookie Officer.
The new position, announced in conjunction with the recent National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, will be filled by Chef Roger Maune. He will be the first Chief Cookie Officer in the hotel brand's nearly 50-year history.
Maune has been a part of the Hilton culinary team for nearly 30 years, working at hotels in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Arizona, Santa Barbara and now San Jose, where he is executive chef for the. DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose.
But when asked how he landed the new cookie-related role, Maune said it was likely his passion for serving the community that sealed the deal, not his history with food.
"I'm involved with a local organization that supports food banks and shelters and I am passionate about mentoring young chefs," Maune said during an interview posted on the Hilton website. "DoubleTree also has a commitment to serving the communities around them, which made this a natural fit for me."
Naturally Maune is very excited about his new role, the title of which he admitted, sounds like something he might have dreamed up as a kid.
Among his immediate duties will be focusing on the hotel brand's new publication "Cook(ie) Book, Start with Cookies," which features recipes from DoubleTree team members around the world. Each recipe in the book will start with a DoubleTree cookie.
Among the recipes in the book, (which will be available for free download or online) are such offerings as DoubleTree Cookie Pancakes and DoubleTree Cookie-Coated Chicken Fingers - either one of which is a sure hit with kids everywhere.
DoubleTree hotels give out about 75,000 cookies each day, which amounts to more than 27 million each year. And get ready to truly be blown away: to date, DoubleTree has given out more than 420 million cookies.
Talk about cookie overload. At Maune's hotel alone, 20,000 cookies are baked each month. (That's 20,000 reasons to visit a DoubleTree on your next family vacation.)
For those who don't have a vacation on the horizon anytime soon, not to worry, you can order a tin of the brand's signature cookies and even the dough, online at DoubleTreeCookies.com
"We want everyone to try their hand at creating their own unique cookie-inspired creations too, so please share them with us @DoubleTree on Facebook and Instagram, using #StartWithCookies," said Maune. "Who knows - maybe they'll be featured in a future book."
