Google and the National Park Service are rolling out a brand new digital hub just in time for the agency's 110th birthday and the start of National Park Week.
United Parks of America allows users to interact with the nation's protected lands like never before with the help of more than 150 curated stories, 30 virtual tours and as many as 350 panoramic images from more than 60 national parks.
During America's ongoing 250th anniversary, the hub will also dive deeper into the country's founding history. Working with Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, the team at Google Arts & Culture digitized 19 copies of the Declaration of Independence, 149 eighteenth-century portraits and more than 2,000 pages of historic documents.
United Parks of America also includes Path to Independence, a new AI storytelling experiment featuring an immersive 360 experience set in Independence National Historical Park. Here, users can explore the very room where the famous document was signed and ask Gemini any follow-up questions.
Additionally, users can look forward to interactive 3D models, spinning and zooming into iconic landmarks from Mount Rushmore to the Statue of Liberty, for example.
National Park Week runs Saturday, August 22 through Sunday, August 30, with entrance fees waived for the NPS' birthday on Tuesday, August 25.
