HX unveiled a new Friluftsliv or 'free air life' inspired seven-day Arctic Circle itinerary on May 9.
The new itinerary, which embodies the principles Norwegians place on spending time in nature and the outdoors, is set to launch in January 2026, the peak of the aurora season.

What New Itinerary Is All About
The planned expedition is aboard the MS Spitsbergen, which will depart from and return to Tromsø during its ten scheduled sailings between January and March 2026.
"We know Norway better than any cruise company, and this expedition connects deeply with the coast. Our guests can anticipate a truly authentic experience, whether they're in search of the Northern Lights, local culture, or some of the most awe-inspiring nature on earth," HX continued.
The itinerary is set to explore four regions in Northern Norway, which include the Lyngen Alps, Senja, Lofoten, and Vesterålen, and will enable travelers to see each region's hidden gems and have meaningful experiences with Norwegian culture.
Some of the experiences planned include nighttime bonfires, a traditional Scandinavian sauna session followed by a polar plunge, an evening visit to the Hurtigruten Museum, kayaking, whale watching, nature walks, alpine treks, snowshoeing, community visits, and ski touring.
An Adventure in Luxury
The ship, which is decorated with Scandinavian-inspired décor, features numerous accommodations and activities, including a science center, a fitness center, a hot tub and sauna, and two restaurants.
HX also will provide guests with expedition gear, a water bottle, broadband Wi-Fi, and professional photos of the trip taken by the onboard photographer, as well as drinks and meals throughout the day.
A Small, Intimate, and Relaxing Atmosphere
With a capacity of about 120, the ship is small enough to access many places that larger ships can't, and due to the lack of light pollution, guests will have the ideal conditions to view the northern lights.
HX is so committed to the promise of seeing the northern lights that any passenger on a voyage where the northern lights didn't appear will receive a future cruise credit worth 1,200 EUR.
