Travelers who don't want to wait for the Titanic replica to be completed by 2022 can have a unique Titanic experience with Cookson Adventures.
Cookson is offering a nine-person trip on July 2019 that will include a manned dive to the wreck of the Titanic, as well as a re-creation of a wine-paired dinner served to guests on the ship.
The dive to the Titanic, which lies 3,800 meters below sea level, is a unique experience and will require travelers to sail overnight to the wreck and then be accompanied by a professional researcher who will guide guests in a submersible throughout the Titanic on a detailed tour of the ship.
Guests will witness the ship's deck, bridge, radio room and the grand staircase.
Chefs will then re-create a 10-course dinner that first class passengers ate on the ship before the Titanic collided with the iceberg. Wines from the period will be paired with food, including a bottle of 1907 Heidsieck Gout Champagne which was drunk on the Titanic and salvaged from the wreck of a Swedish schooner that sank in 1916.
"The Titanic was the embodiment of luxury when it set sail in 1912, and the ability to recreate the masterpiece that was the evening meal, with paired vintage wines appropriate to this feast is an incredible culinary feat," said Thomas Delande, spokesperson for Melchior Club by Wine Source.
Prices for this adventure will be shared upon application, though expect it to be a hefty fee. For instance, in 2017, Blue Marble Private offered tours of the Titanic for over $105,000.
Only a handful of people have set eyes on the Titanic since its sinking and as rust consumes the ship's steel exterior, it may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see this ship that made history.
