Hikes to Experience in Kauai

The United States is filled with natural wonders.
Perhaps the best though can be found in Hawaii. The island of Kauai may not be traveled to as much as Oahu or Maui, but it has plenty of beauty to offer travelers.
One way to experience such beauty is by hiking. Not only is it a terrific workout but it also leads to some stunning views of the island.
GOGO Vacations has put together four hiking trails to explore on your next trip to Hawaii.
Makawehi Lithified Cliffs
These limestone cliffs border the sea on the south coast of the island. Here you can find several fish fossils because these cliffs were originally formed under the ocean. Start out on Shipwreck Beach and explore the day away.
Uluwehi Falls
Also known as Secret Falls, this trail off the beaten path is certainly worth exploring. The 100-foot waterfall is sure to take your breath away. Travelers can tour the area with a local guide, or kayak along the Wailua River and hike their own way to the waterfall.
Wet & Dry Caves
Seeing the Napali Coast is a must when visiting Kauai. Whether you view it by boat, helicopter or hiking trails, you’re bound to be amazed by its beauty. The Wet and Dry Caves in Haena State Park is the go-to hiking spot here, with the Waikapalae Wet Cave drawing major interest because it was used to film for Pirates of the Caribbean. If you don’t want to get wet, grab your flashlight and explore the wonders of The Maniniholo Dry Cave.
Menehune Fishponds
While not quite a true hike, it’s still a good trek to get to this beautiful site. You’ll just need to get there by paddling or driving. Legend says these ponds were made by the mythical Menehune. Take a kayak tour on Huleia River and float in the entrance or drive the Alekoko Scenic Overlook for those picturesque views.
