Bowman’s Travel Brief: Thank Your Pilot

There are an abundance of moving parts that make the travel industry thrive.

And one of the most important players can sometimes be overlooked.

It’s an amazing privilege to be able to travel the world and experience other cultures and try new things, right?

It wouldn’t be all that feasible if not for the outstanding work from airline pilots.

Being a pilot is no easy job. The training can be difficult and intense at times. The FAA also requires 1,500 hours of flight time. This is not something one can just quickly pick up and begin flying passengers around the world.

The industry had been suffering through a pilot shortage, but thankfully things are looking up on that front.

The Air Line Pilots Association said last week that the pilot shortage is stabilizing.

This is a huge win for the travel industry. The shortage played a role in the chaotic travel periods at times in recent years. Now we just need the air traffic controller shortage to become more stable and the air travel experience will really see a boost.

So, next time you fly, thank every pilot you see. They help us all see the world, and isn’t that beautiful?
