Southern California’s Disneyland Resort today announced that it will be honoring Black Music Month throughout June with live music performances and fan-favorite ‘Celebrate Soulfully’ experiences, along with some specialty food and beverage items that pay homage to Black heritage and culture.
At the one and only, original Disneyland Park, the ‘Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln’ attraction in the Main Street Opera House will feature a special exhibit saluting such Black American heroes as Frederick Douglass, a prominent leader in the United States' Abolitionist Movement, as well as a renowned writer, statesman and social reformer.
At Disneyland Park, guests can also enjoy some year-round ‘Celebrate Soulfully’ offerings, such as the resident ‘Tale of the Lion King’ stage show at Fantasyland Theatre, which takes audiences along on Simba’s journey of self-discovery through live ensemble performances, featuring storytelling, music and dance. Just next door, at the Troubadour Tavern food stand, guests will find a special menu of Africa-inspired snacks and quick bites.
Meanwhile, soul food-inspired eats, like the BBQ Hot Link Sandwich and Strawberry Cheesecake Funnel Cake Fries à la Mode, can be found at Disney California Adventure Park’s Award Weiners, while the nearby Studio Catering Co. food truck presents its unique spin on the Shrimp Po’Boy sandwich. All are available only for a limited time, from June through July 4, 2023.

Also at Disney California Adventure Park, guests can visit the Marvel Studios-aligned Avengers Campus, where they just might cross paths with the legendary Black Panther, benefit from some ancient African wisdom, or be combat-trained by General Okoye of Wakanda’s formidable all-female royal guard, the Dora Milaje.
Just outside the parks, the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage will host nightly live music performances from bands in various genres—including Caribbean, Mid-Century Jazz and Jazz Fusion—with 17 different groups of artists lined up to perform four sets each night. Live music performances are also scheduled daily through June 30 at Disney California Adventure Park’s Hollywood Backlot Stage, and on the pool deck at the park-adjacent Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
But, what we’ve mentioned here really represents just the tip of the iceberg. Further information and a complete listing of Black Music Month’s celebratory events and performance, along with Celebrate Soulfully offerings and experiences, arriving next month at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney District and Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are available at Disneyland.com.
