Alaska Airlines is continuing its route expansion to Europe with two new flights slated to launch next spring.
The Seattle-based carrier just announced plans to begin new routes from its home hub (SEA) to Paris and Athens in May 2027.
Both of the new nonstop flights will be somewhat historic. Alaska will become the first airline ever to connect Seattle and Athens and the first Oneworld carrier to link the West Coast and Paris.
“We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years,” said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci.
Seasonal service from Seattle to Athens will begin on May 12, 2027, and operate three times per week through October 2027. The route will become Alaska’s longest-ever nonstop flight.
Seasonal flights to Paris will operate five times per week from May 25 through October 2027.
Alaska will use its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to operate both routes. The widebody jets feature the airline’s new long-haul international cabin experience, which includes business-class suites and lie-flat beds.
The new Europe-bound routes are part of the carrier’s broader international network expansion at its hub in Seattle.
In the last year, Alaska has launched new routes from SEA to Iceland, London, Rome, Seoul, and Tokyo.
The carrier plans to add at least five more long-haul international destinations to its route lineup at SEA by 2030.
