American Airlines and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport have signed a new 10-year Use and Lease Agreement, including the construction of a new terminal, gate expansions and renovations at the second busiest airport in the world.
The long-term partnership includes expanding the Central Terminal Area by renovating Terminal C and adding new gates to Terminal A and Terminal C, with an estimated $2.72 billion investment.
In addition, the airline will fund the construction of a new terminal, Terminal F. The 15-gate concourse will cost an estimated $1.63 billion.
In total, the enhanced partnership will add 24 new gates to the airport. About 85 percent of the passenger traffic at DFW are American Airlines passengers; the airport is the airline’s largest hub.
“American is proud to call North Texas home, and DFW is our largest hub and a central gateway to our extensive international and domestic network,” said American’s CEO Robert Isom. “American has led the growth that has propelled DFW to become the second busiest airport in the world and we are thrilled to finalize a new lease agreement and capital plan that sets the stage for American, DFW and the North Texas region to continue to grow for years to come…”
