United
Airlines and Boeing probably can’t wait for the month of March to end.
It’s
been nothing but bad news.
The
latest is that a United plane manufactured by Boeing and headed from San
Francisco International to Paris was forced to divert to Denver International
Airport. Engine issues were the cause given and the plane did not have to make an emergency
landing, but did stop to check out the situation.
There
were no injuries reported among the 285 passengers and crew.
The
incident happened on Thursday, March 28. The equipment was a Boeing 777-200. Although
the pilots reported having an issue with one of the engines, they did not have
to declare an emergency. Emergency services were standing by as a precautionary
measure, however.
The
flight to Paris was canceled upon arrival in Denver.
In a
statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said, “United Airlines Flight
990 landed safely at Denver International Airport around 10:55 p.m. local time
on Thursday, March 28, after the crew reported a possible mechanical issue. The
Boeing 777 departed from San Francisco International Airport and was headed to
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France. The FAA will investigate.”
And for
some reason, many issues have emanated from San Francisco International
Airport, including a tire that fell off a plane seconds after takeoff and a
plane that had to go to Medford, Oregon, for a door panel that was missing.
None of
the incidents involved reported injuries to passengers or crew.
Still,
neither Boeing nor United Airlines can afford any other mishaps or bad
publicity.
