Avalon Waterways has announced its wide-ranging "Special Interest" itineraries for 2019.
"From beer and wine to history, music and Christmas cruises, Avalon's Special Interest itineraries complement stories with stout, history with harmony and impressions with impressionism," said Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways.
"These passion-filled vacations unite our guests with their pastimes and other like-minded travelers. And, 2019 gives history buffs a unique opportunity to pay tribute to and remember WWII on Normandy's Beaches on the 75th Anniversary."
Special Interest itinerary highlights for 2019 include a series of World War II cruises. They'll commemorate the significant sites of the second World War and the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy.
Tulip time cruises through Holland and Belgium in the spring appeal to garden and nature lovers. Music lovers can enjoy a Danube cruise in the company of Canadian singing legend Jann Arden in June. And, golf enthusiasts can get into the swing of things on special golf-themed cruises in July.
Wine Cruises along the Danube, Rhine, Rhône and Saône are designed to highlight the region's unique history and viticulture. Beer cruises are growing in popularity, as well. New for 2019 are the "Tulip Time Cruise for Beer Enthusiasts," departing April 1 and
"Germany Grandeur for Beer Enthusiasts," departing August 14.
The Habsburg Castles of Germany, Austria and Hungary are in the spotlight on two Danube itineraries. And, Jewish Heritage Cruises on the Danube, Main, Rhine, Rhône and Moselle Rivers explore the Jewish roots of Europe's most historic cities.
During the holiday season, festive cruises feature the colorful Christmas Markets of Europe. The line will offer 16 Christmas Cruises throughout Europe in 2019.
Looking ahead into 2020, one cruise itinerary is already garnering interest. It's centered around the renowned Oberammergau Passion Play. The theatrical tradition has taken place every 10 years since 1634. Avalon Waterways is offering a cruise package that includes preferred seating at the Passion Play, with departures throughout 2020.
The line is offering a $2,500 per couple early booking discount on select cruises.
