Carnival Cruise Line officially announced Thursday that the company's newest ship, the Carnival Horizon, will be the first vessel in the fleet to feature a Dr. Seuss WaterWorks water park onboard.
The 133,500-ton Carnival Horizon has a capacity of 3,934 passengers and is scheduled to make its debut in Europe on April 2, 2018.
The Dr. Seuss water park announcement was made at a travel agent gathering in Fort Lauderdale by Carnival president Christine Duffy and Dr. Seuss Enterprises president Susan Brandt.
The water park will be located on Deck 12 and will offer two distinctly different slides. The Cat in the Hat slide will feature an enclosed raft slide with more than 450 feet of twists and turns. The entrance to the ride will resemble The Cat's famous red and white hat.
On the other hand, the Fun Things slide will be an enclosed body slide with polka dots and lighting effects that will send guests down the 213-feet-long tube to the pool below. The ride is named after Thing 1 and Thing 2.
"Our ships are designed as the ultimate seagoing playgrounds and Carnival Horizon will take this concept to the next level with the spectacular Dr. Seuss WaterWorks which promises fun for guests of all ages," Duffy said in a statement. "Dr. Seuss is an iconic American brand and we're delighted to expand our partnership with this incredible top-deck water attraction for our guests."

As for smaller children, there will be a kiddie splash zone with water spray toys and a 150-gallon tipping bucket patterned after The Cat's hat. In addition, there will be images of Dr. Seuss characters throughout the park, including The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, Thing 1 and Thing 2.
The Carnival Horizon will also house the Dr. Seuss Bookville family reading and play venue, which will feature the Seuss at Sea activities like The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, as well as the Seuss-a-palooza Parade and Story Time.
