Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled new details about Celebration Key, its private destination on Grand Bahama slated to open next July.
The cruise line today announced plans for Starfish Lagoon, one of the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean. The venue will feature offerings for guests of all ages, with a focus on family-friendly activities.

“At Carnival, we carry more children than any other cruise line, so we’ve designed Starfish Lagoon specifically for family fun,” says Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Starfish Lagoon will feature two water slides measuring more than 350 feet long, one called the Flash Flamingo and the other called the Mach III Marlin. The slides are named after the national bird and the national fish of The Bahamas.

For small children and toddlers, there will be a Guppy Grotto splash pad with a 2-foot-deep wading pool, water toys, a dump bucket and shady seating for parents.

The lagoon will also feature a pavilion with table games like foosball, ping po and corn hole; an area with volleyball, basketball and pickleball courts; a swim-up bar; 12 floating cabanas available for rent, called AquaBanas; hammocks, cabanas and daybeds; a beach with kayak and paddleboard rentals; and a wide array of dining options, including Bahamian food trucks.
“Toddlers, teens and adults alike will find their own piece of paradise, whether it be racing down one of the waterslides, playing a round of pickleball or relaxing on our floating AquaBanas,” says Duffy.

Starfish Lagoon will be one of the five portals at the destination, along with a welcome area, an adult-friendly lagoon, a shopping village and an adults-only private retreat. When it opens next year, Celebration Key will be accessible via more than 500 different itineraries aboard 18 Carnival ships.
