Carnival Cruise Line is preparing three ships, including the new-to-fleet Carnival Luminosa, to sail forty-nine cruises during the popular Alaska cruising season this year with a few new experiences.

The ships that will be cruising the Alaskan coastline are the Carnival Miracle, Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa, which joined the Carnival fleet in 2022 and was once part of the Costa Cruises fleet.

The Carnival Miracle ship will begin the Alaska season with its first itinerary departing from Long Beach, California on April 23, 2023 on a 14-day cruise. The ship will then sail from San Francisco to destinations including Prince Rupert, British Columbia, a new destination along the itinerary.

The Carnival Spirit ship will begin its Alaska season on May 2, 2023 from Seattle, Washington. Carnival Luminosa joins the Spirit on May 4 in Seattle, following a 23-day Carnival Journeys cruise from Brisbane, Australia. The two ships will offer six-, seven- and eight-day itineraries from Seattle to popular Alaskan ports such as Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

For travelers visiting Prince Rupert, British Columbia, there are two shore excursions to help guests get the most out of the new destination. Travelers can get up close and personal with nature on the Khutzeymatten Grizzly Bear Expedition, which is a catamaran tour that travels through Canada’s only grizzly sanctuary.

The other tour, Exchamsiks Exploration, is a jet boat and foot tour offering a unique view of the region’s temperate rainforest with a meal of freshly caught local salmon accompanied by a scenic view of 4,000-foot cliffs.

“I can’t wait to welcome our guests onboard our stunning Carnival Luminosa, as she joins her beautiful sisters, Carnival Spirit and Carnival Miracle, for this year’s Alaska season,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “There’s no better way to see the awe-inspiring natural wonder of Alaska than by cruise ship, and we anticipate making that happen for more than 100,000 guests this year. This season’s start is a good reminder that it’s not too early to plan for next year.”
