Celestyal Cruises is canceling cruises in the Mediterranean amid the ongoing Iran war.
Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey were sailing in the Middle East when the United States and Israel began their joint military campaign against Iran.
Because of the conflict, guests were briefly stuck onboard Celestyal Discovery in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Celestyal Journey in Doha, Qatar, though the cruise line eventually safely disembarked all passengers. Celestyal canceled several cruises at the end of March.
The vessels were supposed to sail to the Mediterranean for voyages this spring. However, while both ships remain fully operational and ready to sail, the brand has made the decision to delay their departure from the Middle East and repositioning to the Mediterranean
As a result, the following sailings have been cancelled:
- 7-night Heavenly Greece, Italy and Croatia cruise aboard Celestyal Journey departing April 4
- 14-night Mediterranean Icons voyage aboard Celestyal Journey departing April 4
- 4-night Iconic Greek Islands cruise aboard Celestyal Discovery departing April 6
Guests booked on the departures will be offered a full refund or a future cruise credit to use for a future sailing.
“We continue to monitor developments closely and remain focused on resuming our planned programme as soon as possible,” according to a statement. “We would like to thank our guests and valued partners for their patience and understanding during this time.”
