HX Expeditions is launching a new YouTube series filmed in the iconic Galápagos Islands with its local partners Metropolitan Touring.
The 10-part series is hosted by Monty Halls, the marine biologist, TV presenter and Galapagos Conservation Trust president who also serves as HX Expeditions’ official brand ambassador. Episodes range from his arrival in Quito to his experiences aboard the Santa Cruz II and more.
The series features wildlife shots from videographer Greg Lander Williams, as well as interviews with expedition guides and guests.
“The Galápagos has always held a very special place in my heart,” says Halls. “It’s one of the few places left on Earth where you can truly witness nature operating on its own terms—raw, unfiltered and extraordinary.”
He adds: “What I love about this project is that it allows us to go beyond the surface—to tell the deeper stories of the wildlife, the conservation challenges and successes, and the remarkable people who call these islands home. The Galápagos isn’t just beautiful; it’s profoundly important to our understanding of the natural world.”
In addition to following Halls’ adventures online, guests also have the opportunity to sail with him. He’s headlining two sailings to the Western Isles of Scotland in May. The itineraries will include “Big Blue Bag” sessions, part of Halls’ citizen science conservation initiative developed with the HX Foundation. Each bag contains simple research equipment that enables guests to take part in hands-on environmental monitoring, collecting data on microplastics, coastal debris, biodiversity and water temperature, which is uploaded to a global open-access database via the Coreo app.
The voyages will also feature personal Q&A events and a dedicated talk on Halls’ forthcoming book, launching in April this year, alongside a program of curated activities.
