The Islands of Tahiti took home a whopping four wins at the 2018 Travvy Awards, and Tahiti Tourisme itself was highly honored with its own.
"It is very rewarding to receive this accolade from travAlliancemedia and all of our trade partners," said Kristin Carlson Kemper, Managing Director, Tahiti Tourisme United States. "We could not do what we do, and highlight all the many different sides of The Islands of Tahiti, without them."

The destination was given the gold for Best Cruise Destination - Overall, Best Cruise Destination - Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific, Best Honeymoon Destination - Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific and Best Luxury Destination - Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific. Tahiti Tourisme also received the silver for Best Tourism Board - Overall.

"We have our knowledgeable and talented travel advisor partners to thank for the success of our destination, The Islands of Tahiti," Kemper continued. "They continue to get the word out about all we have to offer, including the very exciting news of United Airlines launching non-stop service from San Francisco to Papeete in October."

United will make it that much easier to get to the legendary locale, and once there, travelers will be able to take in all of its breathtaking beauty. Having just visited the French Polynesian destination for the first time with my wife, I can confidently say it is one of the most romantic places in the world and definitely one of the best to cruise to.

When I interviewed Paul Sloan, CEO of Tahiti Tourisme, at Seatrade Cruise Global in 2017, he further explained the cruise facilities:

"It will create basically an actual [terminal]. It's going to have two levels, so people can disembark and everything else can logistically be done down below. You'll actually arrive at the upper deck, where all restaurants and stuff will be. It's very beautiful because from here you look over at the island of Moorea, which is [a] postcard view. So, even if you're just sitting on the front terrace having a lunch, it's going to be really nice."

"That, combined with the airport renovations, which will be putting in airbridges, it means when people arrive flying in on new [Air Tahiti Nui] Dreamliners, arriving at a new state-of-the-art terminal and going to a great cruise terminal, their whole circuit will be [streamlined]. So, French Polynesia is really stepping up their game."
