As a travel writer, I’ve had the opportunity to cruise with
many brands, from small riverboats to monstrous behemoths carrying over 5,000 passengers.
They all toss the word “Luxury” around in their ads, and I have experienced all
levels of the term...or so I thought.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises won the Gold in the TravelPulse
2025 Travvy Award for Luxury Cruises, and I was about to find out why.
Stepping onto the Regent
Seven Seas Cruises Grandeur, I knew this one was different. A sense of
timeless elegance reminded me of a 5-star hotel with a touch of luxury boutique
ambiance. After flying almost ten uncomfortable hours to get to Bermuda, the
feeling of calm tranquility was appreciated.
The Grandeur is elegant but not overdone. The vibe of RSSC’s
newest ship offers a sense of modern glam but not as flashy or gaudy as you
might find on other lines. The 372 guest suites each include verandahs, and the
perks are all-inclusive, including excursions.
In addition to shore adventures, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ complimentary,
all-inclusive offerings include Wi-Fi, laundry services, pre-paid gratuities and
beverages, such as wines, cocktails and specialty coffees. Your mini bar can be
customized and refreshed daily, at no extra cost. Unlimited use of spa thermal facilities,
including steam, aromatic and cold rooms, as well as saunas and heated Jacuzzis,
is offered, while massages and other spa treatments are available for a fee.
One of my favorite amenities was the complimentary laundry
service. We had several items that needed pressing upon arrival, and the
opportunity to have laundry done mid-week was appreciated. It sure beats
stuffing a dirty laundry bag into the suitcase while packing for home.
Three specialty restaurants, Pacific Rim, Chartreuse and
Prime 7, part of the all-inclusive model, offer Pan-Asian, French and American
steakhouse menus. La Veranda features a just-right-size buffet for breakfast
and lunch, with a made-to-order egg station and hot carving options. At night,
the space transforms into Sette Mari
at La Veranda, featuring Italian fare with both indoor and deck seating.
The main dining room on the ship is Compass Rose, with a
large menu that includes design-your-own options for entrees, sides and sauces.
The casual Pool Grill offers a pizza oven, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other
lunch choices.
Afternoon Tea is served each day with an assortment of
themed delicacies, such as Crepes Suzette, cheesecake and colorful cupcakes. This
daily repast is accompanied by one of the ship’s musicians to round out the
experience.

A couple of quiet spots to hang out on sea days include the
ship’s Library, with a large selection of books covering a wide range of
subjects. It’s a cozy space to start a novel or just gaze out the window and
get lost in your thoughts. The Coffee Connection, on Deck 5, offers an array of
hot or cold coffees and a selection of sweets for a late breakfast or an
afternoon snack.
For wine enthusiasts, a special Connoisseur Wine Lunch is available
at an additional charge. Six varieties of wine and champagne are offered along
with a 5-course epicurean lunch. Pairings are described by an experienced sommelier,
which includes wines from around the world and gourmet food creations.
Room service is available 24/7, and the selection is
extensive, especially for breakfast. If a requested item does not appear,
simply writing it on the menu is all it takes to be delivered. Bottled Vero
Water is replenished daily, and each guest is gifted with a reusable bottle for
excursions or poolside hangouts.
Our itinerary included stops in Bermuda, Norfolk, Charleston,
Port Canaveral, and ended in Miami. The list of complimentary excursions is
long and varied, from easy bus tours through cities to more strenuous
activities. These ports were walkable into town, and a complimentary shuttle
was also offered. Premium Regent Choice excursions are available at an
additional charge.

Entertainment can be found throughout the ship’s many
lounges, with a main stage event happening each night. The Constellation
Theater provides a venue for large-scale productions, comedians, and guest
entertainers. In keeping with the ship's sophisticated ambiance, the casino
sits tucked away on Deck 4, providing an intimate setting for enjoying slots
and various game tables.
An eclectic array of artwork can be found throughout the
ship, without the usual auctions found on other lines. On Deck 5, you will find
a permanent art display featuring a jeweled Faberge Egg. Created specifically
for the Grandeur, the “Journey in Jewels” egg represents the Seven Seas with
its aquamarine color scheme and pearls. It’s a gorgeous piece of art.
Overall, the ship's smaller size lends itself to fewer lines
and easier elevator access. We never felt crowded on this cruise and always
found a seat at our favorite lounge. The disembarkation process for both excursions
and the final day departure ran smoothly.
The tiered cabin levels offer the opportunity to experience
luxury at several price points. Some packages include international flights,
often in first or business class, and even a butler to attend to your every
whim. Whichever level of luxury you choose, the RSSC Grandeur will deliver.
