Walt
Disney World Resort and its affiliated parks are striking back against one of
the most egregious scams ever known.
Lying
about having a disability.
Guests
have been known to lie about having a disability or lie about the severity of
such a disability just to jump
the line at the rides and attractions.
Now they
face a possible lifetime ban from the theme parks.
Disney
has made changes to its Disability Access Service (DAS) program. Big changes,
saying “if it is determined that any of the statements a guest made in the
process of obtaining DAS are not true, the guest will be permanently barred
from entering the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, and any
previously purchased Annual Passes, Magic Key passes, tickets and other park
products and services will be forfeited and not refunded."
Is it
really worth it just to get on ‘It’s a small world’ or to go to the ‘Haunted Mansion’?
The new
policy goes into effect on May 20 at Disney World in Orlando and on June 18 at Disneyland
in California.
The DAS
program will still remain and you can still enroll in it, but one of the
changes being instituted by Disney is that if you enroll in the program you
must attend a virtual video health meeting first. The meeting will be run by
medical professionals who will determine whether or not a guest needs a DAS
pass.
The news
comes as
Disney World is expanding the Magic Kingdom in Orlando and gearing up for a big summer.
