We will stop just short of calling the following video sexy. However, "Toronto Skyline Porn" certainly draws the eye.
Vice's Johannes Hausen spotted some terrific photography being captured by Canada's Ryan Emond-his latest a city hyperlapse that illustrates a living, breathing city in epic form.
Emond explains, "Toronto Skyline Porn is what its title implies - a full frontal visual journey through Toronto's growing skyline. The scenes were shot over the past few years from different heights and in different seasons."
Emond continues, "I've enjoyed showcasing Toronto in the past in a more warmhearted tone but with the evolution of the city over the last 4 years I figured a skyline short was fitting."
Using a DJI Phantom 2 drone and other methods, the filmmaker created a truly alluring take on Toronto:
As mentioned, Emond has covered a wide swath of Canada's landscapes before. Here is his take on Vancouver, posted to Vimeo six months ago:
We aren't always fortunate enough to walk streets we would normally love to experience, so it's one of the better aspects of budding technology that we get to meet unfamiliar haunts by way of stunning time-lapse videos.
Boston, Los Angeles and New York City, to name a few, were cities to recently feature in various time-lapse videos.
In much the same way as other artists, Emond breathes life into an otherwise inanimate city. The traveler in us all gets a glimpse, a figurative taste, of the real thing. It may not replace an actual vacation, but it certainly does the heavy lifting in piquing our interest.
