At the correct speed and from the right vantage, you can see Los Angeles' heart beat.
Sunchaser Pictures (h/t Digg) posted the following video to Vimeo, showing off the beauty and vitality that is Los Angeles, California. Of course, the short video shows a city ramped up to breathtaking speeds:
ANGEL CITY from Sunchaser Pictures on Vimeo.
The video was shot by Gavin Heffernan, who decided to use Elliot Goldenthal's music from the movie Heat, an apropos selection considering the movie takes place in and around the city.
Heffernan writes the recent supermoon allowed for a bit deeper images and continued with the impetus behind the project: "The cityscapes of HEAT inspired me to make movies long ago, so it was a special treat looking down on LA from some similar angles to the classic Michael Mann film."
From the Griffith Observatory to downtown, Heffernan captures a city alive and moving, pulsating with buzzing cars and flickering lights. All the while causing this native to wonder, where the hell is all the traffic?
That serves to prove the photographer certainly picked a perfect night to shoot Los Angeles, because the City of Angels was on its best behavior.
More time-lapse videos can be found on Vimeo, including a stunning take on Death Valley that only reinforces Heffernan's ability to remind us of the beauty that surrounds us all.
