The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco has completed the final phase of a $20 million transformation that included redesigning 46 suites to heighten the guest experience.

"The suites are sophisticated and refined as one would expect from Four Seasons, and at the same time, have a welcoming environment with floor-to-ceiling views of Yerba Buena Gardens or downtown San Francisco, window seats and modern décor and furniture," said Doug Housley, general manager of the property.

Work on The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco, which originally opened 16 years ago, began with the renovation of its 15,000 square feet meeting and event space last August.

With both the suites and meeting space, designers took inspiration from the organic forms and unique materials of the Bay area and paired them with a streamlined, contemporary approach, Four Seasons said in a statement.

Guest rooms and suites now feature shades of blue with cool steel tones complimented by brass and gold accents. The aim of the room design was to establish an oasis above the bustle of modern San Francisco. There are also marble bathrooms with deep soaking bathtubs and separate glass enclosed showers.

Work areas in the rooms, meanwhile, can easily be transformed into spaces for dining or relaxing. Additional in-room details include Nespresso machines, outlets and USB ports located throughout for easy access, as well as Bose speakers that can pair with smartphones and large flat-screen televisions with DVR and casting capabilities.

The design was carried out by New York-based Meyer Davis, a boutique firm focused on residential, hospitality, retail and workplace environments.

"The renovation of Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco offered us a unique opportunity to design for a luxury experience that is uniquely situated in bustling downtown San Francisco, surrounded by the Bay Area's wealth of natural beauty," Gray Davis, principal of Meyer Davis, said in a statement.

Created to appeal to "a first-class demographic looking for an international standard of luxury when visiting San Francisco," the luxe design of the property's Presidential Suite includes updated flooring and finishes aimed at raising the bar of the suite experience to a residential level.

The light oak flooring, airy wall coverings and flowing drapery and carpets that were chosen, bring to mind the afternoon fog often seen throughout the city. Pops of champagne metals, light walnut, onyx stone and rich leather add balance to the forward-thinking palette.

The suite also includes bold furniture throughout that is fit for meeting and working, as well as family dining and lounging.

The property's Premier Suites were crafted to provide an alternative to the Presidential Suite. The rooms offer a California Modernism look but are also aimed at tech-savvy travelers who are visiting for work or fun.

These suites include tailored finishes and flooring choices paired with playful furniture and intriguing art displays. Pieces are slightly overscaled to allow for lounging, dining or working.

Well-furnished living rooms provide a home-away-from-home feeling, while open window walls add stellar views of the city. The living room also features a separate wet bar, pantry area, and powder room.

Guest amenities at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel also include complimentary access to the newly renovated Equinox Sports Club and a Tesla house car.

"San Francisco has seen tremendous change since we opened our doors 16 years ago, and we're excited to evolve with the city and introduce the next chapter in our Hotel's luxury legacy," said Housley.
