Marriott International is poised to form the world's largest hotel company when it completes its pending acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. In the meantime the Bethesda, Maryland-based company is working hard to remain among the premier choices for traveling business professionals.

Some of Marriott's enhanced current and future offerings include mobile check-in and check-out, in-room Netflix access, a website for meeting planners and a beta hotel.

The company currently offers guests the option of mobile check-in and check-out at 4,200 hotels around the world.

What's more, guests at more than 300 Marriott branded properties around the globe have the ability to log onto their Netflix accounts or start a new one on an in-room TV screen rather than being stuck using their tablet or smartphone.

Beyond convenient check-in and enhanced entertainment offerings, road warriors staying with Marriott can take advantage of MeetingsImagined.com. The Marriott website features more than 750 hotels and provides more than 4,000 images to spark meeting planners' imaginations.

The website also features helpful tips, quizzes and trend-related articles to assist with the planning process.

"Marriott International is in the midst of one of its most exciting periods ever for business travel professionals," said Marriott's Global Officer, Brand Management & Global Sales Brian King at the Global Business Travel Association's annual convention this past weekend.

"In the coming year, we'll be unveiling scores of new luxury and lifestyle properties and significant new ballrooms worldwide, but also new guest experiences for valued, tech-savvy road warriors across our portfolio of brands."

Next month, Marriott will launch a beta hotel designed for testing new ideas and technology.

Concepts that will be tested there include an interactive pre-function space disguised as a high-end residential kitchen and a next-generation boardroom equipped with touchscreen monitors.

In addition to the aforementioned innovation efforts, Marriott is eyeing significant expansion that will benefit frequent business travelers, including notable additions to the Gaylord Hotels brand just outside of major cities like Dallas, Denver and Washington, D.C.
