Iberostar Is Changing the Way Kids Vacation

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is transforming the concept of family vacations with brand-new children’s programming.
Star Camp is its newest entertainment offering for children and teens that promotes fun and values. The program was developed using Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which includes a range of skills (linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, bodily-kinesthetic and spatial) important to human development.
There are more than 140 different options for children.
The camp offers some traditional activities. Kids can explore their artistic sides with projects that include working with clay or recreating artistic masterpieces. There is also a culinary program that allows them to test their skills in the kitchen and explore a “sensory menu.”
Star Camp also explores new territory, offering kids the chance to be journalists, publicists, film a short movie, take on a “Mission Impossible,” try to navigate an obstacle course blindfolded, go on an eco-hike, build a robot or challenge themselves to an escape room.
One day each week is entirely dedicated to protecting the oceans, a project that Iberostar is particularly dedicated to through its Wave of Change Initiative. Ocean-centric activities include hunting for microplastics on the beach or handicraft sessions using recycled materials as well as games throughout the day that teach kids about the environment through play.
Children are divided into three groups by age. The Monkeys are ages 4 to 7; Dolphins are ages 8 to 12, and children ages 13 and up are in the Eagles. Each age group has its own personalized space with a venue to meet up and have fun with young people of their own age.
When kids arrive at Iberostar, they receive a kit that provides helpful information on all the programs that are offered in Star Camp as well as identification as a member of the club.
The program is available at all Iberostar properties this summer.
