Palace Resorts Acquires Ocho Rios’ Sunset Jamaica Grande Hotel

All-inclusive resort operator Palace Resorts has acquired the 730-room Sunset Jamaica Grande hotel in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and will close the property in September 1 for a full renovation of the resort.

The property will be Palace's first outside of Mexico and will re-open as the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande in early 2015, according to a joint statement issued by the companies.

"We believe Jamaica is the most important tourism destination in the Caribbean, and we found Sunset Jamaica Grande to be the perfect opportunity for us to enter this market," said Gibran Chapur, Palace Resorts' executive vice president.

The Moon Palace Jamaica Grande will be Palace Resorts' second Moon Palace-branded property, joining the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
