Preferred Hotels & Resorts is preparing to launch nearly two dozen new properties across the globe in 2019.

The properties range from a resort in Indonesia to a bohemian gem in Costa Rica and a stately luxury hotel in the American south. A sustainable retreat in Georgia is also part of the mix as is a renovated medieval mansion in Spain.

Here are some of the most notable properties amid the new crop.

Best For Off-The-Beaten-Track Adventure

Lelewatu Resort Sumba in Sumba Island, Indonesia. Launching April 2019

A tropical and relatively unknown retreat in Indonesia's archipelago, Sumba Island is known for its remote pristine beaches, world-class surf, lush jungles, and rich local culture.

In 2019, the island will welcome the debut of Lelewatu Resort Sumba, set on a cliffside overlooking a private lagoon and the Indian Ocean. Scattered over 10 acres, the resort's 27 luxury villas are designed with authentic Sumbanese wooden interiors, handwoven ikat fabrics, indoor marble baths, and private pools.

Guests can sample local delicacies at two gourmet restaurants, be pampered at Maraga Spa, and experience a host of activities including yoga, horseback riding, trekking, and exploring the beautiful coastline, traditional villages, sacred lakes, and waterfalls.

Best For An Idyllic Urban Oasis

Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Launching December 31, 2018

Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden, Mallorca's much-anticipated new retreat, is located in Palma's idyllic Old Quarter, just minutes from the harbor.

Hidden on a quiet cobblestone street, the renovated medieval mansion features restored antique frescoes, wooden beams and gothic relics of the past alongside contemporary design and curated modern artworks to elevate the property's crumbling aristocratic beauty.

The 24-individually designed suites include ornate details such as velvet curtains, extra-large king-size beds, and decadent freestanding bathtubs.

Can Bordoy's secret wild garden includes a heated pool, Jacuzzi, and spa treatment spaces set in secluded corners among the foliage and mature indigenous trees. Guests can also experience intimate al fresco dining in the garden at Botanic, a bistro-style restaurant offering local cuisine with a modern twist.

Best For Traditional Luxury At Its Finest

Hotel Bennett in Charleston, South Carolina. Launching January 2019

Described as the newest grand dame hotel to debut in the American south, Hotel Bennett is a good choice for travelers seeking an opulent and luxurious escape.

Overlooking Charleston's iconic Marion Square, the hotel includes 179 guestrooms and suites, a signature restaurant with views of Charleston's famed park, a stylish bar and lounge utilizing reclaimed pink marble, and a French bakery serving fine patisserie crafted onsite.

The hotel's design is informed by European and traditional South Carolinian design and includes a bar inspired by an Englishman's lounge and local limestone, with marble and copper incorporated throughout the interior decor. In addition to a spectacular rooftop pool with cabanas and bar, the hotel's destination spa is set to be one of the city's finest, offering guests a range of treatments inspired by the area's maritime surroundings.

Best for A Boho Wellness Break

Santarena Hotel in Las Catalinas, Costa Rica. Launching February 2019

Costa Rica, with its fantastic year-round climate, lush landscape, secluded beaches, and relaxed 'pura vida' lifestyle, is the ultimate introduction to Central America and a haven for adventure and eco-travel.

The country's hottest new opening, Santarena Hotel, is a bohemian gem located in the town of Las Catalinas.

As a car-free destination, Las Catalinas is the organic heartland of natural diversity and wellness with a rugged coastline to one side and tropical dry forest to the other. Santarena Hotel will offer 45 guestrooms including three suites, a roof-top lounge, and swimming pool, and elevated local cuisine focused on sustainability and farm-to-fork dishes.

There is also a wealth of wellness and adventure activities on offer such as hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and scuba diving.

Best For A Chic City Break

The First Roma Dolce in Rome, Italy. Launching February 2019

The First Roma Dolce, sister property to the award-winning The First Roma Arte, is set in a beautiful 19th-century building on Via del Corso - one of Rome's most iconic streets, just a stone's throw from attractions such as Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and The Vatican.

The boutique hotel, designed by the visionary architect Giuseppe Valadier, has 23 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, with stylish headboard libraries and Saint Laurent marble bathrooms.

Many of the suites have balconies, and there are unique Prestige Fitness Rooms and Suites available that offer specialized workout equipment and an option to enjoy bespoke personal training sessions.

An additional highlight is an Italian Patisserie, serving a decadent selection of sweet and savory patisseries.

Best for A Sustainable Retreat

Omalo, a remote village located between two mountain ranges in Georgia's historical Tusheti region is a paradise for hikers and intrepid travelers. With just 43 rooms, including 10 luxury suites and two apartments, the boutique hotel comprises a restaurant serving traditional cuisine and local wine, a lounge area with cozy wood burning stoves, and a spa.

The hotel will be entirely serviced by energy efficient systems and solar power and is a haven for sustainably-minded travelers looking for an off-the-beaten-track destination in one of Europe's most exciting up-and-coming destinations.
