Sandals Resorts International is making a bold statement about the future of luxury all-inclusive travel with a $200 million investment to reimagine three of its most celebrated Jamaican resorts completely: Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast.
The sweeping transformation comes in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, which struck last fall and prompted the temporary closure of the three properties for damage assessment.
While five of Sandals' eight Jamaica resorts reopened in December, the remaining three stayed shuttered as restoration teams evaluated the full scope of what was needed. As that work progressed, leadership saw an opening to do something far more ambitious than a standard rebuild.
Executive Chairman Adam Stewart framed the moment as a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
"The opportunity to completely reimagine three resorts at this scale, with full focus and without compromising the guest experience, is extraordinarily rare," said Stewart. "With our doors closed, we were given something we almost never have in hospitality, a true blank canvas and having that clarity changed everything. We spent time walking the properties, speaking with our team and thinking about our guests. At a pivotal moment, it became clear: we shouldn't simply restore what was there. We should dream bigger. When we welcome our guests back, they'll see the transformation and they'll feel exactly why we chose to use this moment to create something worthy of their loyalty."
The reimagined resorts will debut later this year. Sandals South Coast is set to reopen on November 18, 2026, followed by both Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay on December 18.

Guests can expect dramatic new arrival experiences overlooking the Caribbean Sea, fresh accommodation categories, redesigned pools and revamped social spaces—all built around the Sandals 2.0 vision while honoring the distinct character each property has long been known for.
New dining concepts and bar experiences will also be introduced across all three locations.
In the meantime, Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn's River, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril remain fully open and welcoming guests throughout Jamaica.
