If the after-effects of Winter Storm Grayson have you planning your next tropical getaway, hold on for one minute. There may still be a reason to plan a trip to colder climes.
That's because Lapland Hotels SnowVillage in Finland is channeling its inner "North" this season and in partnership with HBO Nordic, has rolled out a Game of Thrones-themed Ice Hotel.
This is the village's 17th annual themed hotel, but like the 16 that have come before, once the weather warms up, the hotel melts away into just another fond memory.
Which means you better book it now if you want to capture this Game of Thrones experience in all its frigid glory.
Every year, SnowVillage molds more than 20 million kilograms of snow and 350,000 kilograms of ice to build a distinctive, this-season-only magical getaway. Built over 200,000 square feet, the centerpiece of SnowVillage is the famed Snow Hotel, with some 25 snow rooms and suites.
Other attractions include an Ice Restaurant, Ice Bar, Ice Chapel and outdoor galleries of snow ice and art.
And, oh yes, it's northerly latitude nearly 125 miles above the Arctic Circle also means there are some pretty stunning displays of the aurora borealis or northern lights.
For the faint of heart, there are traditional hotels with indoor heating located nearby, so you can skip the -5 degree (Celsius) sleeping experience. You'll still be able to tour the Ice Hotel and participate in other experiences, like reindeer rides.
