Sometimes, it's necessary to slip away for a little luxury, but one needn't travel to the ends of the earth to get there.
Many of the world's top luxury destinations are secluded-The Maldives, Fiji, The Seychelles. Their luxury is that they're far, far away. But there are several enclaves of over-the-top luxury that exist in seclusion-not isolation-in the midst of some of North America's most vibrant cities.
Reset at Florida's Fisher Island Club
Fisher Island, Florida is just off the coast of South Beach and within view of downtown Miami. It is also one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the United States.
Accessible only by ferry, the intimate Fisher Island Club Hotel & Resort is surrounded by private mansions that once served as a winter retreat for William K. Vanderbilt II.
There's no shortage of amenities: A multitude of dining options, tennis center, deep-water marinas, golf course, private beach and beach club.
The 24,000 square foot spa offers guests The Reset Package, (starting at $400), which includes a detoxifying session in the Infrared Sauna, deep tissue massage and a selection of rejuvenating facials. The package is available to members of the Fisher Island Club or guests of the hotel.
Room rates start at around $1,000 per night plus $150 daily membership fee.

Enjoy Resort Credit at the Four Seasons Las Vegas
The birthplace of the high roller suite, Las Vegas has always traded in VIP experiences. (Although the past two decades have seen a remarkable influx of luxury brands to the city.)
The hideaway Four Seasons Las Vegas occupies space within the Mandalay Bay tower and includes its own pool, dining and public areas. It is an almost-hidden enclave among the vast scene of megaresorts that dot Las Vegas Boulevard.
First, enjoy the exclusive pool offering fresh fruit, chilled water and an attendant to spritz sunbathers with Evian (we're not kidding). However, Four Seasons guests can also use the larger resort pool and beach club at Mandalay Bay.
For stays two nights or longer, the hotel is offering a resort credit (for use at Four Seasons Las Vegas outlets only), ranging from $100 per stay for most room types, $200 per stay for select suites and $500 per stay for the Presidential Suite.

Hunker Down at The Wickaninnish Inn
The West Coast of Vancouver Island is serene and otherworldly. (It's hard to believe it's a short half hour by air away from one of Canada's largest cities, which shares a name with the island.)

Rates start at $748 for deluxe accommodations and vary by season, availability and exchange rate, although it's worth noting that as of press time the rate is favorable for American visitors.
