There's the treehouse you attempted to make by nailing together plywood and two-by-fours in your backyard as a kid and then there's the three-villa treehouse at Indonesia's Nihiwatu resort.
Recently crowned the best hotel in the world for 2016 by Travel + Leisure, the five-star resort is located on the Indonesian island of Sumba.
Combining the perfect amount of luxury and privacy, the resort is synonymous with paradise.
While not constructed inside of a tree, the three villas that comprise the Mamole treehouse are elevated by stilts and surrounded by trees that provide cover from the sun and a sense of seclusion.

It doesn't hurt that the treehouse sits on a cliff overlooking the sea.
A bamboo bridge connects the villas so guests can easily access the living room, bedroom area, private infinity pool and shared infinity pool.
A stay at the treehouse also includes meals, one daily mini bar restocking and access to wellness activities like yoga and meditation classes.
Guests seeking additional thrills will find no shortage of activities at Nihiwatu, with the resort offering everything from water activities like jet skiing and snorkeling to trekking and equestrian activities.
The only downside to the treehouse is the cost.
But for guests unable to afford $6,000 per night, the resort also offers two-guest villas equipped with a private plunge pool and featuring views of the nearby beach for a slightly more manageable $900 per night.
