The Massachusetts State Police have launched a criminal
investigation after an American Airlines flight attendant allegedly placed a hidden
camera in a bathroom while a juvenile was using the facility.
According to the New
York Post, American Airlines Flight 1441 departed from Charlotte Douglas
International Airport in North Carolina and was flying to Boston Logan
International Airport on Saturday morning when the incident occurred.
WSOC-TV
is reporting that police officers in the city were dispatched to Logan Airport in
response to an incident that involved a ‘juvenile, a flight attendant, and a
cell phone.” The investigation has been turned over to the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI).
A first-class passenger on the plane who did not want to be
identified—corroborated by Boston
25 News—claims to have seen a male flight attendant stop a teenage girl
from entering the bathroom during the flight. The crew member then allegedly
entered the bathroom and left before the young woman used the facility.
Once the flight landed in Boston, state police officers
boarded and searched the bathroom. Upon completing the investigation, the male
attendant was escorted off the plane.
An American Airlines spokesperson told Boston 25 News that
the company was taking the matter “very seriously” and was “cooperating with
law enforcement in their investigation, as safety and security are our highest
priorities.”
