March has proven to be a chaotic month for travel.
Travelers are facing disruptions at home due to TSA staffing shortages brought on by the partial government shutdown, in addition to uncertainty abroad amid the ongoing war with Iran.
As a result, the U.S. State Department has been busy in recent weeks, issuing a plethora of updated travel advisories for destinations around the globe.
War Prompts Widespread Updates in the Middle East
The ongoing war with Iran defined March and prompted the vast majority of travel advisory updates.
Destinations such as Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Cyprus, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan are currently listed at Level 3, with travelers urged to reconsider plans to visit due to the threat of armed conflict.
Meanwhile, Level 4 (Do Not Travel) destinations in the Middle East following March's wave of updates include Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan.
Turkey remains at a Level 2 as of March 8, with visitors advised to exercise increased caution due to terrorism, armed conflict and arbitrary detentions.

State Department Eases Venezuela Guidance
U.S. officials removed their "Do Not Travel" designation for Venezuela on March 19, lowering the South American country's status from Level 4 to Level 3 just as flights are set to resume from the U.S. for the first time in seven years.
Americans are now asked to reconsider travel to Venezuela due to a handful of risks, including crime, kidnapping, terrorism and poor health infrastructure.
Popular European Destinations Remain Safe
The State Department reissued Level 1 travel advisories for a couple of popular European destinations in March, including Ireland (March 20) and Finland (March 13).
Travelers are encouraged to exercise normal precautions in both countries this spring.
Singapore also received an updated Level 1 travel advisory on March 9.
