The Northeast United States continues to get hammered by snow, as Winter Storm Toby becomes the fourth nor'easter in less than three weeks to hit the region.

According to Weather.com, Toby is expected to bring heavy snow, freezing rain, high winds and coastal flooding between Tuesday and Thursday to areas from Tennessee and North Carolina along the I-95 corridor north to Massachusetts and beyond.

Some of the major cities preparing their airports for potential travel delays and cancellations include Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Providence and more. Much of the Northeast along the Atlantic Ocean coast is officially under a winter storm warning, while areas like Washington D.C. and Baltimore are under a winter storm watch.

Airlines are preparing for the winter storm by waiving change fees for passengers traveling to or from impacted airports. Top U.S. carriers such as American, Delta, Southwest and United have all issued travel advisories in response to Toby.

The majority of the waived change fees apply to travel between Tuesday and Wednesday for major airports, including Baltimore-Washington International, Logan International in Boston, Philadelphia International, Washington Dulles International, Newark Liberty International in New Jersey and LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International in New York City.

Travelers are being asked to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport this week, as delays and cancelations are expected. According to FlightAware.com as of 9:25 a.m. ET, over 300 flights have already been canceled Tuesday in preparation for the storm.

For travelers hitting the rails this week, Amtrak has issued travel advisories for the previous three nor'easter storms. While no official cancellations have been made yet, passengers are being asked to call ahead for the next several days to ensure their journeys are still operating on time.
