Severe Turbulence Leaves 25 Delta Air Lines Passengers Hospitalized

Over two dozen passengers were hospitalized on Wednesday night after a Delta Air Lines flight experienced “significant” turbulence.

According to ABC News, Delta Air Lines Flight 56 was en route from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam with 275 passengers and 13 crew members onboard an Airbus A33-900 when the incident took place.

The violent turbulence forced the flight crew to call for an emergency landing at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, where the plane touched down safely at around 8 p.m. local time.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Fire Department and paramedics were on site when the aircraft landed, transporting 25 of the passengers to a local hospital for what a Delta spokesperson called, “evaluation and care.”

“We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved,” the Delta spokesperson said. “Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with customers to support their immediate needs.”
