Polish your diamonds ladies, New York City is getting ready for the gala spectacle known as NYC Pride.
Sure, there are going to be lots and lots of tiaras, leather-wearing hotties and balloons, but as any member of the LGBTQ+ or "Straight but Not Narrow" community knows, the event is really all about celebrating differences.
In fact, this year's event, which runs from June 14-24, is rolling with the theme "Defiantly Different."
With a performance line-up that includes Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo, Big Freedia and Lizzo and parade grand marshals such as Billy Jean King, Lambda Legal, Tyler Ford and Kenita Placide, attendees can expect ten days of high-energy creativity, collaboration and, well, out-loud Pride.
While New York might be the city that never sleeps, revelers may need a place to rest their perfectly coiffed heads for a couple hours. (Or at least somewhere to stash their designer bags.) So, where's a place that offers the same bold creativity and acceptance that brought celebrants to New York in the first place?
Fitting the bill, Moxy Times Square has just announced that it's going big this year with the "Oh My, What A Really Big Package!" package.
In addition to the best available rate, the package includes a size XL assortment of goodies, including two complimentary Pride-inspired cocktails at check-in, complimentary tickets to the Museum of Sex and a subscription to Out Magazine.
All that and rates start from $209 per night. In Manhattan. Oh my, indeed.
While we're on the subject, attendees might want to start thinking about booking their 2019 NYC Pride packages right now. In tandem to commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in 2019, New York City will also host the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association's Global Convention next year. Which means the city will likely welcome New Year's Eve-size crowds next June. And everyone knows that being "defiantly different" is so much easier when your hotel isn't way over in New Jersey.
