The Iceland Experience, a division of The Great Canadian Travel Company, is offering a four-day/three-night Icelandic Monster Truck Safari, which puts clients behind the wheel of a specially-modified Land Rover Defender with 38-inch tires, driving it across Iceland's wild terrain of rivers, mountains and glaciers. They'll experience stunning scenery, hot springs and dramatic waterfalls, and go searching for whales and icebergs, and dine on succulent lobster and enjoy a picnic lunch in one of Iceland's most scenic parks. A professional driver-guide meets clients at the Keflavik Airport to introduce them to their monster truck. After receiving safety instructions, the group will drive to the nearby fishing town of Grindavik for breakfast, and then continue along the south shore. There's a detour to a sandy beach, where you can get the feel for how the truck handles. After checking in to the hotel, you'll head for dinner at the lobster restaurant, Fjorubordid in Stokkseyri.

Day Two is devoted to viewing the famous sights of the Golden Circle, Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs area and Thingvellir National Park, the site of Iceland's oldest parliament. Travel is on some special tracks and mountain roads, presenting a sheer challenge for the safari's 38-inch modified Land Rover Defenders. Next up is a journey to an intriguing glacier valley at Thorsmork, an area surrounded by mountains and glaciers, with many unbridged glacial rivers to cross. After a picnic lunch in the park, you'll drive along the black basaltic sand shore south of the picturesque waterfall, Skogafoss. On Day Four, your route takes you through a demanding track, known as the Thousand Water Way, to Reykjavik, for a short stop in the capital. In the afternoon, you'll help deliver the vehicles to headquarters and enjoy a little treat over lunch. The final experience of the trip is traveling in one to the airport via the Blue Lagoon, where guests enjoy a relaxing soak in the geothermal waters of the lagoon. Cost for this trip is $3,169 per person, based on double occupancy. Included are three nights' accommodations with private facilities, breakfast and lunch daily and dinner on days one through three. Also included is a greeting upon arrival in Iceland, one-way transfer Reykjavik to airport via Blue Lagoon, entry to Blue Lagoon and services throughout of a monster truck driver-guide. There are departures every Friday from October through April. For more information, call 800-661-3830, or visit www.iceland-experience.com.
