TSA officials warn travelers to
double-check their baggage before arriving at the airport to ensure no prohibited items are hidden inside. Passengers will be able to bring holiday food through the security checkpoints, but holiday drinks like eggnog should be the checked luggage.
To help answer common questions, the official TSA website offered a
helpful tip about whether the food should be taken in a carry-on or stowed in a checked bag.
"Here's some food for thought: If it's a solid item, then it can go through a checkpoint. However, if you can spill it, spread it, spray it, pump it or pour it, and it's larger than 3.4 ounces, then it should go in a checked bag," the statement read.
Liquids in carry-on must follow the 3-1-1 liquids rule.
