Get Ready to Rock n' Roll or Jazz It Up With These Music Festivals

Music festivals are some of the year's best-loved and most popular events, welcoming millions to listen to all genres of music before the pandemic. This year is sure to be a great year for music festivals across the nation, with pent-up demand and easier entry requirements after two years of adapting to the pandemic. While it's likely some of these music festivals' dates, performers and methods of entry will be changed before they are held during their respective dates, it's unlikely they'll be canceled outright.

If you're planning on making 2022 the year of being more present, listening to more music and expanding your musical horizons, check out some of these festivals, like Milwaukee's Summerfest, the world's largest music festival, or New Orlean's Jazzfest, where you'll listen to some of the best jazz music in the world.

Coachella, California

Coachella is the year's trendiest and most exclusive music festival. Held each year in Palm Springs, California, this year it will be held on two weekends in April, the 15th-17th and the 22nd-24th. Guests can join the waitlist to see if they're lucky enough to get tickets to the incredibly star-studded event. This year, performers will include Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat and many more.

When We Were Young Fest, Las Vegas

Las Vegas' When We Were Young Festival will be held October 22-23 this year at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. One of the biggest rock festivals on this list, it will feature performers like Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance, The All American Rejects, Jimmy Eat World and many more! Tickets are currently sold out, but guests who want to try their luck can join the festival's waitlist to snag a ticket.

Lollapalooza, Chicago

Perhaps Chicago's most recognizable festival, Lollapalooza will be coming back July 28-31, 2022 in Grant Park. While this year's lineup hasn't been unveiled yet, 2021's welcomed big performers like Miley Cyrus, Marshmello, Journey, Post Malone, Foo Fighters and many others back when large events were just beginning to be held again. This year, it's likely that Chicago's largest music festival will feature plenty of popular performers again, too. Future festival guests can sign up for notifications about the performers and when tickets become available on the festival's website.

Summerfest, Milwaukee

Considered the world's largest music festival, Milwaukee's Summerfest was postponed and held in September last year. This year, it plans on being held during its regular summer months. Held June 23-25, June 30-July 2 and July 7-9, it offers greater flexibility for people driving or flying in for the festival. Headliners for the year include Gabby Barrett, Justin Bieber and Jason Aldean. With over 1,000 performances and over 800 acts, it'll be hard not to find a performance you love at Summerfest!

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Louisiana

From April 29 through May 8, New Orleans' typical musical flair is turned up a few notches for the city's Jazzfest, which features incredible performances by stars like Norah Jones, The Who, Lionel Richie, Jimmy Buffet, Foo Fighters and many more, including local jazz performers. The festival also offers a variety of tickets and passes to choose from. If you're a fan of jazz music, you'll want to pencil this festival in your calendar this year.

Beale Street Music Festival, Memphis

Memphis' Beale Street offers an entertainment and music culture that rivals sister-city Nashville's, which is why it's fitting that it also has an awesome music festival. The Beale Street Music Festival will be held April 29 through May 1 and includes headlining acts like Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Lil Wayne and many more. The festival will be held at The Fairgrounds in Liberty Park.

CMA Music Festival, Nashville

June 9-12 will bring another favorite Tennessee festival, but this time, it's country that reigns big. Nashville's CMA Music Festival is televised each year and offers the biggest names in country music. It'll publish its official lineup of performers in March, but it's sure to welcome big stars like Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Gabby Barrett and many other performers. Future visitors to the festival can purchase passes for the event now, as well as merchandise.

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Manchester

The third Tennessee music festival on the list, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival offers 150 performers and musicians each year. This year, it'll be held June 16-19 and will welcome big acts like Stevie Nicks, Machine Gun Kelly, The Chicks, Gryffin and many more. The festival also has areas for festival-goers to enjoy camping at the festival, which is sure to be a memorable experience. Tickets are on sale for purchase now.

Welcome to Rockville, Daytona Beach

Considered the world's largest rock music festival, Welcome to Rockville will be held in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 19-22 this year. Featuring headliners like KISS, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns N' Roses and many more, rock lovers across the country are sure to flock to the large event. Tickets for the event can be purchased for a single day or in a multi-day pass format.

Firefly Festival, Delaware

One of the biggest north-eastern music festivals of the year is the Firefly Festival, held each year in Dover, Delaware. This ultra-cool festival will be hosting its tenth annual festival on September 22-25 of this year. While it hasn't yet released its official lineup of performers, its website does have an email newsletter that future festival-goers can sign up to receive the latest updates. Past lineups included Billie Eilish, Panic! At the Disco, Cage the Elephant, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and many more notables.

Boston Calling Music Festival, Boston

This Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29) is the Boston Calling Music Festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex. Home to headliners like Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, Black Pumas, Metallica, Weezer and Glass Animals, it's sure to be a high-energy festival. Future festival-goers can sign up for the festival's newsletter to get the best information as it comes out and can also pre-purchase 3-day weekend passes to the event.

This year will bring back plenty of top music festivals in the U.S. for every genre-lover to enjoy.
