Delta Air Lines announced on March 5 several leadership updates, including the promotion of Peter Carter to President.
Carter’s appointment as President means he will lead enterprise strategy, legal matters, and global policy, along with Delta’s international portfolio, real estate, diversity, and sustainability. He’s been working in positions at Delta for a decade.
“Our success always relies on our ability to operate as one team, with shared values that reflect and strengthen our people-focused culture, elevating Delta to be the brand of choice for our customers,” said Delta's CEO Ed Bastian in an open memo. “These changes demonstrate Delta’s deep bench of talent and commitment to developing and uplifting the leaders who will shape Delta’s journey for years to come.”
Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and President of Delta TechOps, John Laughter, has retired after over three decades of service.
Dan Janki will succeed him as COO. Janki will lead the airline’s Airport Customer Service, Flight Operations, In-Flight Service, Operations & Customer Center, Reservation Sales and Customer Care, Technical Operations, and Corporate Safety, Security and Compliance.
Additionally, Erik Snell has been appointed Chief Financial Officer. He has two decades of experience in Delta’s finance and operating groups. He will now oversee the airline’s finance organization, fleet and supply chain teams, as well as Delta’s refinery subsidiary, Monroe Energy.
Ranjan Goswami has been appointed Chief Marketing and Product Officer following Alicia Tillman’s departure.
Alain Bellemare, E.V.P and President - International, has taken on a new role as Chairman of Delta TechOps in addition to his previous duties.
All the new appointments will report directly to Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian.
