Delta Air Lines has partnered with DraftKings to bring an all-new sports experience to the friendly skies.
Available this week for eligible SkyMiles members, SkyPicks allows sports fans to put their knowledge to the test for free without making deposits, wagering real money, miles or currency.
According to Delta, SkyPicks is a completely free-to-play sports contest for SkyMiles members age 21 and up that's similar to the Delta Sync Sky Hopper game.
Designed solely for in-flight entertainment on Delta Sync Wi-Fi, the game lets contestants compete for Delta Gift Cards from their laptop or mobile device. Prizes will be awarded to the top performers in individual contests and monthly leaderboards.
SkyPicks will launch with Major League Baseball contests this summer, with NFL matchups coming later this year after the season gets underway in September.
Users will log on to Delta Sync Wi-Fi and open SkyPicks, signing in with a DraftKings account to choose their league and unlock a set of questions about a single game, or a predefined group of games. From there, they can make picks by answering a series of questions such as a mix of player head-to-heads and outright game-winner picks.
Contests run twice a week, but SkyMiles members can always enter the next upcoming contest while onboard to compete in games taking place after their flight ends.
"With Delta Sync, our goal is to create an onboard experience that offers something for every customer—one that’s connected to what customers love on the ground," the airline's Chief Marketing and Product Officer Ranjan Goswami said in a statement. "For many of our customers, that includes sports. SkyPicks brings that passion onboard in a fun, free-to-play way, giving SkyMiles Members another way to engage with the games and conversations they love while they fly."
