Azamara Club Cruises offers a special destination-centric software experience, and now its hardware has begun to be revamped to match, beginning with the renewed Azamara Journey. The ship just underwent a bow to stern revitalization in the Bahamas to exhibit a fresh decor and offer new services and amenities to guests.
"There is no area on the ship that has not been touched," says Larry Pimentel, president and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises. "Known for our land programs (providing) our guests with the most personalized Destination Immersion experiences in the industry, Azamara needed to take our onboard product to the next level. Cruise ships are like fine hotels; after wear and tear, upgrades need to be made. We can't wait to have our new and loyal guests onboard to see what we have done. It's gorgeous and provides all the modern services and amenities that today's traveler needs and demands. I think we have exceeded expectations."

Staterooms and Suites
Every stateroom and suite has been redone with custom designs and stone and porcelain materials. For instance, Club World Ocean and Owner's Suites have been entirely redesigned, and even two new Spa Suites have been constructed alongside the Sanctum Spa and feature included spa amenities. What will be most interesting to examine is whether or not stateroom showers have been reconfigured as they were previously some of the smallest in the industry.
The Patio
The Pool Grill has been redeveloped into The Patio for sit-down al fresco dining complete with tablecloths and candles in the evening. The modern aesthetic now includes new lighting, ceilings and fans. A new menu is served here at night now, and self-serve Swirl & Top frozen yogurt stations come with several flavors and toppings. Azamara is also known for a tasty ice cream selection as well.

Windows Cafe
The Windows Cafe buffet has been similarly redesigned with fresh furniture including more tabletops just for two and tables that can be combined for larger groups. The refreshed outdoor Sunset Bar patio area remains.
Discoveries Restaurant and Discoveries Bar
The ship's main dining room and adjacent bar, the Discoveries Restaurant and Discoveries Bar, have also been redesigned with new decor. The restaurant features new lamps, sheers and a variety of different seating and table configurations, and the bar also received new barstools, sofas, chairs, tables, sheers, painting and wood trim.

Living Room
One of the perks of a ship dedicated to destinations was always its great forward-facing observation lounge, and the renamed Looking Glass Lounge is even more handsome. Now called the Living Room, the venue is home to dancing, karaoke, live music, DJ tunes and even specialty entertainment and dining throughout the day as follows:
- Daytime Fare from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m comes with a selection of fine teas and coffees, plus breakfast pastries, finger sandwiches and sweet treats.
- Afternoon Delight from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. features hot and cold Spanish tapas and accompanying red, white, or rosé wines or champagnes.
Casino and Spirits
What's more, the Casino got new slot machines, carpets and upholstery, and the Spirits bar has also been transformed.
The Azamara Quest is next to receive the upgrades when it goes in for dry-dock in April 2016 in Singapore. It's been hinted at for years that Azamara Club Cruises fleet of two ships would grow to include new ships, and now that its existing vessels are being redesigned, future expansion is likely closer than ever.
