Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating a major milestone: It’s now the first cruise line to embark more than 7 million guests from New Orleans.
Thomas and Julie Litteral, plus their children Zachary and Zoey, helped push Carnival over the edge when they walked onboard Carnival Valor on Monday. Captain Antonio Modaffari was there to welcome the Georgia-based family onto the ship.
The company has been cruising year-round from New Orleans since 1994. Carnival currently has two ships homeporting there, Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty. More than 400,000 travelers each year sail from New Orleans with Carnival.
“Sharing this landmark embarkation in New Orleans with loyal guests, a family that clearly loves the fun they find when they sail with us, makes this moment truly special,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Seven million guests cruising with us from Port NOLA signifies our unwavering commitment as the market leader in this vibrant city. Just after celebrating 30 years of year-round service here this spring, we’re proud to continue building on our important partnership with the New Orleans community.”
