HX Expeditions has launched the first in a new series of Arctic educational courses, called the HX + UTAS Alaska Course, which will be provided to HX Expeditions guests before they even step onboard.
The course was developed in a partnership with the University of Tasmania and marks the first of a series of courses aimed at educating travelers heading to places like Greenland, Svalbard and Arctic Canada.
“This collaboration continues to transform expedition cruising and lead our industry,” said Chief Operating Officer of HX, Iain McNeill. “By combining exploration with structured, university-backed learning, we’re helping guests become more informed and responsible ambassadors for the planet, while reaffirming HX’s leadership in mindful, science-based travel.”

The online course is free and has been developed with UTAS to provide four modules centered on topics such as iconic Alaska wildlife, an introduction to its ecosystem, and responsible tourism across the state.
Each module takes about 30 minutes to complete. Those who finish the course are awarded the Certificate of Attendance, and members of the HX Explorers loyalty program will also earn points for course completion.
The new course follows HX’s industry-first, award-winning HX-UTAS Antarctica Pre-Departure course. It’s considered the world’s first university-developed learning program for travelers to Antarctica.
