Travelers hoping for a chance to set a Guinness World Record will have even more opportunities to do so when they sail with MSC Cruises.
In March 2023, the company launched its new Guinness World Records entertainment program on two ships, MSC Seascape and MSC World Europa. It proved so popular that the line expanded it to 10 additional ships.
Now, MSC Cruises is rolling the program out across its entire fleet. It will be available on all of the line’s ships by the end of the year.
“To date, MSC Cruises guests and crew have broken 30 Guinness World Records,” says Steve Leatham, vice president of entertainment for MSC Cruises. “From being the fastest to pull 100 meters of rope (about the length of a football field), to being the quickest to complete 20 chair rotations in under 21 seconds, or putting the most socks on one foot in under 30 seconds, guests have attained record-breaking glory in a variety of quirky ways.”
During the day, travelers can participate in record-breaking activities—which doubles as their audition for a main evening show. If they make the cut, they get to show off their talents and try to become the record holder.
Records are verified by an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records. Anyone who officially breaks a record gets a certificate, plus bragging rights.
“Guinness World Records exemplifies the kind of successful activities we offer on MSC Cruises’ ships, engaging the entire family,” says Matteo Mancini, the brand’s senior manager of family entertainment. “It’s heartwarming to see all ages come together to compete and play. On our ships, everyone can be a star, and Guinness World Records now is not only in the book or in the TV show but has become an unmissable onboard live experience for all.”
