Paul Gauguin Cruises’ Overwater ‘Bungalows’ Are Multi-Island

When traveling to the islands of French Polynesia, overwater bungalows are the coveted accommodations of choice, but Paul Gauguin Cruises uniquely touts a movable variety that sets sail to more than one location.
Sure there’s something magical about a stationary resort room perched above the water. After all, it’s a quick descent from your private bed to the tropical oasis below, but the view will never change from one day to the next.
As a ship, The Gauguin presents multiple staterooms and suite choices plus a comparable marina for accessing the waterline. Not only does the vista change, but so does the destination.
The vessel is inherently designed for value as its onboard “bungalows” set sail for multiple islands in a single vacation. Best of all, there’s no need to island hop by plane, inconveniently living out of a suitcase. Just unpack once, and you’re on your way to comfortably enjoy as much of the South Pacific as your chosen itinerary encompasses.
As a luxurious all-inclusive experience, guests are treated to complimentary airfare from Los Angeles; beverages like select wines and spirits; all onboard meals; room service; gratuities for room stewards, dining and bar staff; kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing in certain ports; and private Motu Mahana island and exclusive white-sand beach access in Bora Bora.
The Gauguin accommodations themselves range from 200 to 534 overall square feet, and nearly 70 percent of the staterooms and suites showcase private balconies. Common to them all are at least an ocean view as well as temperature control, a queen-size bed, bathroom with full-sized bathtub and shower, bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, television, CD/DVD player, personal safe and refrigerator filled with soft drinks.

Some can be configured with twin-beds and to accommodate a third guest, and one stateroom is also wheelchair-accessible.
Entry-level staterooms are categories E and F with a picture window or dual portholes respectively, each at 200 square feet. Jumping up in size are C and D at 239 square feet with balconies.
Larger still are category B Veranda Staterooms at 303 or 305 square feet, which also include premium butler service. Also with the service are even bigger 349- or 358-square-foot A Veranda Suites. Butlers can help with unpacking luggage, making reservations, delivering canapés and more.

The crème de la crème of accommodations add complimentary internet access to the butler service starting with the two 529-square-foot Grand Suites and elevating to a pair or Owner's Suites. The 534-square-foot one features a separate shower and dressing area, and the 588-square-foot one showcases a full-sized tub and dressing area.
Regardless of their stateroom or suite, all guests have bungalow-like access to the aforementioned water sports marina where they can also launch kayaks from. Snorkel equipment for use in port is additionally checked out from here. Further available to passengers are PADI SCUBA diving programs and excursions.
Polynesian hospitality, entertainment and activities await, all from a sailing overwater “bungalow.”
