It’s been a busy year already for Princess Cruises: Travelers booked a record number of Alaska cruises with the company in January, the line announced today.
Demand for visiting the Last Frontier has been so strong in 2024 that last month’s bookings exceeded all earlier Januarys in the cruise line’s history by more than 20 percent.
Princess is celebrating its 55th year of ferrying travelers to No. 49.
"With its jaw-dropping landscapes, unspoiled natural beauty and incredible wildlife, Alaska is so much more than a once-in-a-lifetime trip," says Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer for Princess Cruises. "This soaring interest underscores the importance of securing an Alaska adventure for the upcoming summer season while availability still remains."
Spots are still available for Alaska cruises in 2024 and 2025, though the company is urging travelers to book quickly so they can get their preferred stateroom and the best deals. Cruises range from four to 22 days in duration, and travelers can extend their trip on land by booking cruisetours. Ships depart from San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Whittier and Los Angeles.
Princess Cruises' record-breaking month came amid wave season, the period between January and March when many lines offer special savings and promotions. Other cruise companies are also having strong wave seasons so far this year, including Holland America Line and Royal Caribbean Group.
