It's official. Viking Ocean Cruises is scheduling its first-ever world cruise for 2017 and 2018 aboard the upcoming Viking Sun - the newly named sister ship to the Viking Star, Viking Sea (just launched) and Viking Sky (2017) before her. The itinerary is 141 days in length and features five continents, 35 countries and 66 ports.
According to Viking's website, the cruise will depart on Dec. 15, 2017 from Miami, Florida aboard the new ship fresh from the yard. Port highlights include a dozen overnight visits in Havana, Cuba; Los Angeles, California; Tahiti, French Polynesia; Auckland, New Zealand; Sydney, Australia; Manila, Philippines; Shanghai, China; Hong Kong, China; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand; Singapore, Singapore and London, England - finishing on May 5, 2018. Alternatively, the cruise is available as a shorter 120-day segment leaving from Los Angeles, with the 21-day portion considered a pre-cruise extension from Miami.

Either way, all of Viking's classic inclusions apply: one free excursion in every port, dining in all restaurants (except The Kitchen Table) and unlimited Wi-Fi. Plus, on this itinerary, the cruise line is upgrading its complimentary beverages to the Silver Spirits package with nearly every drink available, and it's throwing in business class flights from select cities, ground transfers to and from the ship, gratuities and service fees, free full-service and self-service laundry services and even all onboard medical services.

As a bonus incentive, those guests who book by May 31 will receive a $2,000 optional excursions credit, $750 spa services credit and $750 retail shop credit. Viking considers this and the aforementioned inclusions to total over $22,500 in value per guest. Prices per person based on double occupancy start at $49,999 for Veranda (V2) stateroom.
