Most notably, the presentation shows a bit more of how the worn medallion will interface with mobile devices and way-finding signage onboard. It also reveals what kind of accessories might be available to dress up the small circle as worn like a bracelet. It’s also expected to be capable of being framed as a pendant or simply pocketed.
What remains to be seen is whether or not the technology will expand to guest’s existing smart watches in time. After all, if you already own an Apple Watch, for instance, it would be nice to see it act as the medallion instead of requiring an additional piece on your wrist. But that would depend on the antennas matching, which in theory they should. Both the Ocean Medallion and Apple Watch utilize NFC (near field communication) and Bluetooth systems.
