As of the morning of January 19, Carnival Vista became self aware, tweeting like a twenty-something diva with an eye on having fun.
Back in February, our own Theresa Norton Masek profiled the budding new cruise ship that would set sail in 2016, giving potential visitors details on a truly wonderful liner.
What we didn’t know at the time, and what we can’t get out of our heads or Twitter feeds, is the realization that the Carnival Vista, much like Johnny Five and Wall-E before it, is a living being.
Now before you scoff at this revelation, consider the only evidence anyone ever needs of sentience: a personal Twitter feed. After all, Snooki has one and we are half inclined to believe it functions as a human.
With sound logic at the ready, we delve into our favorite tweets from the Carnival Vista:
It begins:
This is me, casually inviting you to spend a week with me sometime in 2016. But we should get to know each other first.

My press release says I’ve got an IMAX. My press release doesn’t mention that I wish it looped cat videos.

From my press release: I come with a new Seafood Shack. From my brain: if I had a magic lamp I’d wish for taste buds.

It Assimilates:

What I'm feeling right now isn't so much FOMO as it is concrete knowledge I'm missing out via not being built yet.

Oh em gee. Just found out my home port after New York is Miami. It’s a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it.

It’s like some strange movie where Mindy Kaling’s spirit gets trapped inside a ship, which is actually a free idea, Hollywood.
So if you ever wanted to know what a giant ship was thinking, go ahead and ask it questions. Perhaps it might have an answer to how we humans might function in a world of obviously living cruise ships.
