Secret Cinema created something nearly as cool as a hoverboard and almost as amazing as a flying DeLorean time machine with a recreated Hill Valley used to screen the movie Back to the Future.
We need to make like a tree and see this thing.
The Awesomer spotted a video that captured all the wonder of the Secret Cinema event that took place this past summer in London.
From actual DeLoreans to 1950s attire to Marty McFly skitching a truck, this event pretty much had it all save actual time travel (h/t Future Shorts):
The Hollywood Reporter's Georg Szalai reported on the event back in September, promising that something similar will head to Los Angeles to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary.
Yes, you are that old, and yes we all need to book a trip to Los Angles now.
Szalai offers a bit more on the future L.A. screening: "Secret Cinema said the L.A. event would take place next summer following the company's previously announced launch in the U.S. in early 2015. The company will at that point offer its so-called Tell No One events, which bring out people who don't know which film will screen until the last minute."
This isn't the only news relating to the iconic 1985 film, because an orchestral tour will kick off in Lucerne, Switzerland, sometime in May, replacing the original score with live music.
Now you can find out more about any future Hill Valley recreations at the Secret Cinema website. Details are scant, which is by design.
The message that greets visitors to the website even offers, "Secret Cinema is a growing community of all that love cinema, and experiencing the unknown. Secret audience. Secret film. Secret locations. Secret worlds. The time is now to change how we watch films."
Although Szalai gives some semblance of what to expect in the form of cost. Here is what the reporter had to offer about the London shindig that took place over several days: "Its London screenings drew more than 75,000 people, with tickets costing $88.50 (£53.50). Secret Cinema said this made it the biggest live cinema event of its kind to date and helped the movie make the top 10 box-office ranking in the U.K."
While expensive, you are getting more than a movie night. This looks like an over-the-top film concert with actors, functional stores and fans of the movie playing the part like a giant cosplay celebration.
Aside from a flux capacitor this is the best thing to make us forget how many decades it's been since the film's premiere.
